Namboku Line Status: Check Official Tokyo Metro Updates

For the current Namboku Line status, open Tokyo Metro's official service-information page. This article explains how to check that source and plan around a disruption. It does not report live operating conditions, and its publication date is not a service-status timestamp.

The Namboku Line is a Tokyo subway route, identified by the letter N. A disruption can affect a local journey or a connection to another railway. Before leaving for an important reservation, check the operator's latest notice and the actual route you plan to take.

How to check the latest service information

  1. Open the official Namboku Line service-information page.
  2. Refresh it using the site's update control or reload the page.
  3. Read the affected section, direction and service changes in any notice.
  4. Check the information for the other operators on your itinerary.
  5. Use station displays and staff instructions if conditions change while you are traveling.

Read the whole notice rather than relying on an icon or a search-result snippet. A disruption may affect only part of the route, some trains or a connection beyond the subway line. A cached result, screenshot or saved article cannot establish what is happening at the moment you arrive.

Tokyo Metro notes that its service information is updated but may differ from actual network conditions. Treat the operator's announcements and station instructions as the operational reference. The absence of a prominent alert is not a guarantee of a particular departure or connection.

Route and interchange planning

The official Namboku Line route page lists stations between Meguro and Akabane-iwabuchi, with links to station information and interchange routes. Use the station page for the actual entrances, lifts, timetable and transfer you need.

Useful interchanges shown by Tokyo Metro include Meguro, Yotsuya, Iidabashi, Komagome and Oji for JR connections, and several connections with other subway lines. An interchange listed on a map may require a walk between platforms or gates. It is not evidence that another service is operating normally or that a pass covers every part of the alternative route.

Enter your precise destination and travel time in the route planner. A different train can be useful only if it reaches the station you need and is running when you need it. Check the final destination displayed on the train, especially when it continues beyond the Namboku Line.

What to do if your journey is disrupted

First establish whether the notice affects your section. Avoid abandoning a usable route simply because another part of the line has a problem. If your section is affected, compare alternatives using current operator information and ask station staff when the notice is unclear.

Assess the full alternative, including walking, ticket validity, accessibility and the last useful connection. A route with fewer train minutes may still be unsuitable if it requires stairs you cannot use or a long walk with heavy luggage. Keep enough time for those practical differences.

Do not assume another operator will accept your ticket free of charge. Substitute-transport arrangements, when offered, have specific conditions. Follow the information announced for that incident and check before entering a different railway's paid area.

If you have a Shinkansen reservation

The Namboku Line itself does not carry Shinkansen trains. For a long-distance departure, check the exact station on your reservation and plan the local journey to that station. A disruption on the subway does not automatically mean the Shinkansen is delayed, canceled or covered by the same notice.

Review the booking provider's contact and change instructions if your connection is at risk. Ticket conditions differ, and a delay certificate alone does not establish a right to a refund, free replacement or another reserved seat. Keep your booking reference and the relevant operator notice available when requesting help.

Our Tokyo Shinkansen station guide helps distinguish departure points. The boarding guide and ticket pickup guide explain tasks you may still need to complete before reaching the platform.

Delay certificates and other information

Tokyo Metro publishes Namboku Line delay certificates separately from its live service-information page. Use the certificate for the relevant date and period when one is available. It records published delay information rather than predicting a future departure.

For fares, timetables and facilities, use the route or individual station page. Those are separate questions from whether an incident is active. Save the operator links before traveling and check them again shortly before departure, especially when you have an airport connection or a reserved intercity train.

FAQ

Is the Namboku Line operating normally now?

This guide does not provide live status. Open and refresh Tokyo Metro’s official Namboku Line service-information page, then follow current station announcements.

Where can I find Namboku Line delay information?

Use Tokyo Metro’s official service-information page for operational notices and its separate delay-certificate page for published certificates.

Does a Namboku delay mean my Shinkansen is delayed?

No. Check the Shinkansen operator separately and assess whether the local disruption affects your connection to the departure station.

Can I use another railway free during a disruption?

Do not assume this. Any substitute-transport arrangement has conditions set for the incident; confirm the announcement and ticket eligibility with staff.
